  1. XLIB is a library of procedures which
  2. can greatly simplify protected mode
  3. programming under DOS. XLIB provides
  4. the simplest and most reliable method
  5. for accessing extended memory from real
  6. mode languages. A tutorial on protected
  7. mode is included. XLIB procedures handle
  8. mode switching, extended memory,
  9. memory-mapped IO, interrupts, and files.
  10. XLIB also handles CPU exceptions and
  11. performs debugging functions.  XLIB
  12. operates under DPMI, VCPI, XMS and clean
  13. configurations. Both Microsoft and
  14. Borland formats are included.
